Perhaps the only difference can find
is that in case of Somnath, no religious place was built over the
ruins of the vandalised temple. However, next to the ruins of the
ancient Hindu place of worship, a small mosque was built within
the temple precincts. Even this small structure was built not with
any religious objective, but to give the same political message
as in the case of the Babri structure at the Shri Rama Janmabhoomi
- namely that Hindus were now slaves of Islam. After all, if there
was a need for the Muslims for a place of worship, it could have
been built some distance away.
