New Delhi, October 14, 2021 - The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly condemned the incidents of attacks on temples and divine icons of Hindus in Bangladesh and demanded strict action against the aggressors and protection of Hindus! The Central Secretary General of VHP, Shri Milind Parande said that today, in the dark of night, a copy of the Quran was conspiratorially and surreptitiously planted on the divine icon of Hanuman ji outside a Durga Puja pandal in Comilla area of Chittagong Division and the attackers went wild in tearing down the Durga Puja pandals at different places, and the Hindu society is deeply hurt by such destruction of their icons in the Puja Mandaps. There are reports that there is a continuation of brutal torture and persecution of the Hindu minorities. At least two Hindus have been slaughtered and more than 500 have been injured in attacks on temples and Hindu shrines. Incidents of desecration of divine icons during the Durga Puja festival have taken place at many other places in Bangladesh. The situation there is likely to deteriorate further as there are fears of further attacks on Hindus following the alleged call by local extremist and terrorist organizations to mount such attacks. Due to this the minority community of Bangladesh is even more terrified. The Government of Bangladesh, while ensuring the safety and security of its minority Hindus, should curb the radical Jihadis by putting its hook in their nose, and duly compensate the Hindu victims for their loss of life, property and also compensate the injured. Shri Parande said that the Government of India (GOI) as well as the international community should pressurize the Government of Bangladesh to take appropriate action to protect the lives and property of the minority Hindus and their spirituo-religio-cultural thought, expression, belief, faith and worship! Expressing concern over the silence of the United Nations Organization (UNO) and its related agencies on the subject, he said why do they shy away from action when it comes to protecting the human rights of Hindus? The Government of Bangladesh (GOB) should ensure strict measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in future with immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of radical Jihadists. He assured that the entire Hindu society, including Vishva Hindu Parishad, stands with the persecuted Hindus of Bangladesh and we will extend all possible help to them.
